On August 19, 2026 at 3:12 PM, the driver of a silver SUV reportedly did not stop for a crossing guard standing in the crosswalk with a raised stop sign on 700 West. Two parents on bicycles and two children on bicycles were waiting to cross; they waited for the vehicle to pass, and the children had not entered the crosswalk. The reporter estimated the SUV was traveling about 35 mph and said the crossing guard attempted to photograph the license plate but could not because the vehicle was moving too fast. The reporter said speeding and drivers refusing to yield at this location happen often at different times of day and described the area as unsafe.
