On August 27, 2026 at 8:05 AM, the reporter arrived at the 800 North/700 West crosswalk and found the crossing guard visibly shaken. The crossing guard said a child riding a bicycle had been preparing to cross, but stopped after she signaled for him to wait. She then entered the crosswalk with her sign raised and stood in the middle when a woman driving an SUV reportedly drove through the crosswalk without yielding.
