On September 25, 2026 at 1:23 PM, a crossing guard stepped into the crosswalk on 700 West with a sign raised when the driver of an approximately 20-year-old goldish-silver Chevy Suburban did not yield and drove through the crosswalk. The guard stepped back out of the vehicle’s path. Children were waiting to cross but had not yet entered the crosswalk; the reporter said they could have been struck if they had stepped out. The crossing guard attempted to photograph the vehicle, but it drove away too quickly, and asked the reporter to document the incident.
